The Wall That Heals

September 16th through September 20th

Assist Visitors at The Wall: Greet and assist visitors with finding names, viewing photos,
name rubbings. Listen and provide support when needed.

Mobile Education Center Volunteer: Talk about items, In Memory Honorees and Hometown
Heroes.

Visitor Tent: Seated Position: in finding names on website or name directory. Monitor trifold
inventory. Answer Visitor questions to best of ability.

Direct Visitors (Floater): Greet and assist visitors with information. Direct to The Wall,  Trailer, Visitor Tent. Assist if they need help with mobility. Fill in other positions as needed. Check
bathrooms at least 1x per shift.

Parking and Visitor Assistance: Direct parking. Visitor assistance with transportation to and
from The Wall That Heals (Golf Cart / wheelchair /etc)

Volunteer Tent: Check in volunteers arriving. Follow up with volunteers regarding their shifts.
Keep Water & Snacks Accessible. Assist as needed.

Digital Navigator Program

Assist community members with various technical challenges, including using iPhones or computers, navigating software like Microsoft Word, recognizing online scams, and accessing essential online resources for health and education.

RUCKHIT Exchange Volunteers

Record the Ruckers' times as they hand off to their teammates, provide updates as needed and most importantly, they cheer on all the Ruckers! Volunteer with a friend or make it a family event. There are 71 exchanges along the 200+ mile course and RUCK4HIT needs approximately 250 volunteers to man those exchanges in order to safely host this relay event.

Board Member

Enhance the quality of life in Orleans by delivering innovative presentations on critical local topics. Perfect opportunity for someone to gain board experience and share enthusiasm for Cape-based issues.

Explorers Program Volunteer

Support adults with IDD/ASD to experience a variety of monthly events such as bowling nights, cooking classes, sports outings, and other activities that build social skills and meaningful friendships.

Thrift Store Volunteers

Support meaningful employment and independence for individuals with disabilities in our community. Friday, Saturday, Sunday, or Monday; flexible scheduling. Every hour you give helps fund Cape Abilities programs and creates opportunities for the individuals we serve.

Hospice Volunteer

Bring caring, comfort, and relief into the lives of those who need it most. No previous experience, special skills, or healthcare background is required. We provide all of the training you need; hours and visits based on your availability.

Seeking Board Members 

Seeking board members with experience in buildings/grounds, property management, real estate, landscaping/horticulture, affordable housing, and/or finance. Experience in human services, autism and developmental or intellectual disabilities, wellbeing needed!

Conservation Volunteer

While many of our volunteer assignments involve work "in the field", we also have "tamer" tasks that need doing. Indoors and out, it's smart, motivated, and committed volunteers who fuel our progress.

Long-Term Care Volunteer Ombudsmen Advocates

Provide nursing and rest home residents with a means and opportunity to voice their concerns about their care and treatment. Ombudsmen visit long-term care facilities on a weekly basis to monitor conditions, address residents’ concerns, and advocate for residents' rights to live dignified and meaningful lives.

Radio Host Volunteer

Do you have a love for reading? Volunteer Radio Hosts are the core of the Audible Local Ledger's work to provide our free radio reading service to individuals who are blind, visually impaired, and print-disabled. 

Volunteer Attorneys

WE CAN needs attorneys with all areas of expertise, especially those experienced in family, housing, employment, and civil law. Volunteer attorneys help to provide free, 30-minute one-to-one consultations designed to help Cape Cod women to know their rights.

Mentors

You don’t need super-powers to be someone’s hero…you just need to be you and be there! Young kids all over the Cape and Islands are looking for someone who can help them reach their potential. Four to five hours per month make a lasting impact. Best part: you'll have fun doing it!

Special Education Surrogate Parent

Seeking volunteers from across the state to become Special Education Surrogate Parents (SESPs). FCSN provides training to be effective educational decision makers for eligible children in the custody of the Department of Children and Families (DCF) who do not otherwise have parental representation in the special education process.

Independence House is Cape Cod's leading domestic and sexual violence emerency housing resource, counseling, and advocacy center to address and prevent domestic and sexual violence.  We are looking for younger individuals to help us with our mission.

Playspace Activity Leaders

The Playspace program gives volunteers the opportunity to give back to their community in a meaningful way that works with their schedule – just two hours a week makes a difference for a child living in shelter. Volunteers are supported by a dedicated team of staff committed to the success of the volunteers, the program, and the families we serve.
