The Cape Cod Museum of Natural History in Brewster announces its dates for the 2025 Field Guide Training Course. Six Monday sessions, 9am-2pm: March 17, 24, 31;April 7, 14, & 28, 2025. Plus, an opportunity to shadow a veteran guide on a walk during the week of April 21–25. All sessions will include multiple presentations, and a walk through a salt marsh, over Wing Island to Cape Cod Bay (i.e., dress appropriately and wear waterproof boots). During the school vacation week, April 21–25, guides will have an opportunity to shadow a veteran guide leading one of the daily scheduled family walks.

Bird Walk & Talk explores the birds of the season in 4 different habitats: marsh, meadow, woodland, and seashore. Participants will spend time looking for and listening to birds in each of these four habitats after a brief introduction to the Museum. The walk will also explain and utilize some of the latest birdwatching technology tools. It is suggested that participants bring binoculars and a smart phone. Carol Newman Cronin is an author and 2004 Olympian who learned to sail in Woods Hole. Was she named after Hurricane Carol? We're not sure—but in 2010, she turned her father’s stories about riding out that 1954 storm into her second novel, Cape Cod Surprise. She will also talk about her first competitive sailing in Cape Cod Knockabouts, which eventually led her to compete in the Olympics.
