Cape Cod, MA — CCYP hosted the 7th Annual Shape the Cape Summit in April 2022, at the Sea Crest Beach Hotel in North Falmouth, with generous support from The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod.
The one-day Summit remained one of Cape Cod’s most anticipated events of the year, bringing together hundreds of business and nonprofit leaders, elected officials, local employers, and the Cape’s young workforce for in-depth discussions on key regional issues. The 2022 Summit focused on leadership, collaboration, and innovation, featuring forward-thinking and solutions-oriented sessions.
The event kicked off with a welcome from Lisa Oliver, President and CEO of The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod. Wendy Northcross, Executive Director of the JFK Hyannis Museum Foundation and recipient of CCYP’s inaugural 2021 Lifetime Community Leadership Award, facilitated a fireside chat with State Senator Julian Cyr and State Representative Sarah Peake. A panel of Cape leaders then shared innovative ideas and collaborative opportunities to address critical challenges facing the region’s young workforce. The day continued with panel discussions, breakout sessions, and an afternoon leadership skill-building session. Small group discussions and facilitated networking opportunities encouraged creative idea exchange, surfaced potential solutions, and identified opportunities for cross-sector collaboration.
First introduced in 2016, the Shape the Cape Summit was developed in response to the CCYP-commissioned Shape the Cape Survey, which highlighted factors contributing to the “out-migration” of young residents from Cape Cod—career advancement opportunities being a top concern.
