Cape Cod, MA — The 4th Annual Shape the Cape Summit took place in April 2019 at the Sea Crest Beach Hotel in North Falmouth, thanks to the generous support of Cape Cod 5. The event’s theme was "Moving Cape Cod Forward."
The Plenary Speaker was Heidi Sosik, a Senior Scientist at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, who had been on the faculty and staff since 1994. A biological oceanographer and inventor, Sosik and her colleagues developed automated underwater analyzers that significantly enhanced scientists’ and resource managers’ ability to study microscopic organisms that fuel ocean food chains and interact with Earth’s climate. She shared how technologies like lasers, robots, and artificial intelligence were revealing new insights about these tiny organisms that have a major impact on local economies, global climate, and everyday life.
The Keynote Speaker was Roy Heffernan of Life is Good! Heffernan spoke about the power of optimism and how, throughout his professional journey, he integrated philanthropy and giving back to the larger community as core pillars of the popular apparel and lifestyle company.
