Written by CCYP | February 14, 2022

Cape Cod, MA — Cape Cod Young Professionals (CCYP) is pleased to announce the 7th Annual Shape the Cape Summit, presented with generous support from The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod. The event will take place on April 7, 2022 at the Sea Crest Beach Hotel (350 Quaker Rd., North Falmouth).

“The past few years have shone a light on the ongoing challenges facing Cape Codders of all ages. We look forward to sharing insight, expertise, and innovations happening locally and ways to support efforts to positively Shape the Cape at this year's Summit," ,” said Sara Kohls, co-chair of CCYP’s all-volunteer Summit planning committee.

The one-day Summit is one of Cape Cod’s most anticipated events of the year, known for convening hundreds of business and nonprofit leaders, elected officials, local employers, and the Cape’s young workforce for “deep dive” discussions on the issues that matter most to our region’s future. At this year’s Summit, we're excited to facilitate forward-thinking and solutions-oriented sessions all centered on the theme of leadership, collaboration, and innovation.

2022 Speaker & Agenda Preview

  • The 2022 Summit will kick-off with a welcome from President and CEO of The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod Lisa Oliver.
  • Executive Director of the JFK Hyannis Museum Foundation Wendy Northcross (and winner of CCYP’s inaugural 2021 Lifetime Community Leadership Award) will facilitate a fireside chat with State Senator Julian Cyr and State Representative Sarah Peake.
  • Then, a panel of Cape leaders will share innovative ideas and collaborative opportunities to address critical challenges facing the Cape’s young workforce.

Panel discussions and breakout sessions will follow along with an afternoon leadership skill-building session.
  • Small group discussions and facilitated networking opportunities will foster creative idea exchange, surface potential solutions, and identify opportunities for collaboration across sectors.
  • The day will conclude with a plenary session titled "Sparking the Next Generation of Cape Leaders and Innovators.”

The event is designed to facilitate community conversation around a variety of issues that impact quality of life and career opportunity for young people living and working on Cape Cod.

The Summit was first introduced in 2016 in response to the CCYP-commissioned Shape the Cape Survey, which highlighted a number of factors that could be driving the “out-migration” of young residents on Cape Cod. The need for career advancement opportunities topped the list.

“The goal of the Summit is to educate and empower young professionals across the Cape to thrive, both professionally and personally, and to become more invested in their community,” said Marissa Cyr, co-chair of CCYP’s all-volunteer Summit planning committee. “Ultimately, we want our young residents to feel connected and supported in their efforts to successfully live, work, and raise a family here on the Cape."
